Danville, Kentucky-The University of Virginia's College at Wise softball team scored a major upset in the opening round of the Mid-South softball tournament, defeating the 2nd seeded Georgetown Tigers. The win advanced UVa-Wise into the winner's bracket, where they fell to St. Catharine 5-2. In the first game, Kaylla Holdway pitched a complete game, holding Georgetown to 5 runs while the offense provided seven to seal the victory. Holdway picked up the win while Kayla Williams took the loss.

In the second contest, the Cavaliers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Chelsea Booth, who took the loss, had a perfect game through four innings but came unraveled in the 5th, allowing a three run home run to give St. Catharine a lead for the first time.
