Wise, Virginia - Officials at UVa-Wise announced on Friday that Kendall Rainey and Kristen Salyer would be receiving promotions within the athletic department.  Effective immediately, Rainey will resign her position as head volleyball coach to assume the position of Senior Administrator of Women's Athletics while Salyer will move from assistant volleyball coach to head coach.

Prior to accepting the head volleyball position, Rainey was a standout student-athlete at UVa-Wise where she excelled in volleyball and softball.  The new administrator received her bachelor's degree from UVa-Wise before earning a master's degree from the University of Tennessee.  In addition, she is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Tennessee.   Like Rainey, Salyer was a standout as a student-athlete at UVa-Wise.   Salyer recorded over 1,000 kills in her four year career while aiding the Cavs to the NAIA National Tournament.   A graduate of UVa-Wise, Salyer has been a member of the volleyball coaching staff for the past two seasons.
