Wise, Virginia- Merry Lu Prior will be this week's honorary, originally from Gaylord, MI, is the wife of the late University of Virginia's College at Wise Chancellor David J. Prior.  Merry Lu is graduate of Olviet College, where she earned a degree in Spanish and secondary education.  In addition, she is a very active in many organizations and committees in the greater Wise County area.

Merry Lu has two grown children, Christopher and Andrea.  Recently, Merry Lu's son Christopher and his wife had a daughter, Lucy.

For every home football game this season, UVa-Wise will be honoring a member of the campus community that will serve as an honorary captain. The honorary captain will attend practice during the week, meet the team on Thursday, and serve as the Cavaliers' honorary captain at the start of the game.

UVa-Wise plays host to Faulkner University on Saturday; kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. inside Carl Smith Stadium.
