
Bluefield, Virginia – Bluefield College opened the home portion of its 2012 season with a three set victory over visiting UVa-Wise in Mid-South competition on Tuesday. The victorious Rams posted 25-15, 25-10 victories in the opening two sets before holding off the Cavaliers in set three 25-20 to start Mid-South play 1-0.
In the loss, UVa-Wise was led by Brittni Altmann who finished with 18 assists and India Dillard who totaled seven kills. Bluefield College used 10 kills from Jasmine Morrow, 18 assists from Cheznee Daily, and 12 digs from Anna Church in the victory.
With the loss, the Cavs fall to 1-6 overall and 1-1 in league play. The win improves the Rams to 1-0 in Mid-South play and 3-3 overall. UVa-Wise will return to action on Thursday when the team plays its home opener against Southern Virginia University. The match is set to begin at 6:00 PM inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center.
