
The UVa Wise men's cross country ran their second NCAA school-hosted meet in a row. Plus this time they were additionally challenged by a difficult course of multiple rolling hills over wet grass. (On this 8K course the 2011 median time was 29:56, and the 2012 median time was 30:37). Fellow NAIA team Tennessee-Wesleyan won the race.
Matt Parker and Tyler Morris continued their strong early season performances, and were both rewarded by top 20 finishes. Parker finished in 18th place at 30:31 and Morris finished 19th at 30:34. On the other hand, the three freshmen runners continue to strive to adjust to the higher demands of the training regime and greater racing distance at the college level. They finished close together in the middle of the pack. Sean Johnson finished 35th with 33:37, Josh Willcuts finished 36th in 34:14, and Jake Garman finished 37th in 34:15. Meanwhile. Landry Mullins fought off the de-conditioning effects of a previous knee injury and cruised in at 38th place with a 34:58 time. Christian Bresnock did not compete due to an injury.
