The Greater Louisville Sports Commision hosted a huge multi-race meet consisting of three levels of competition. The first race, Gold Division, contained 31 NCAA DI schools, fielding 255 runners. The second race, Blue Division, had 46 ranked NCAA DII, DIII, and NAIA schools with 362 runners. Finally the Silver Division ran 38 teams, including the UVa Wise, totalling 306 runners.
For UVa Wise Matt Parker continued to improve in leaps and bounds this season. He held pace after a fast start and ran a new personal best of 29:43 for 153rd place. Freshman Sean Johnson (30:45, 191 place) followed shortly behind, having adjusted successfully to the 8K distance. Freshman Josh Willcuts also made great strides in learning to race 8K with a 31:46, 207 place finish. Two runners recovering from injury, Landry Mullins (knee) and Christian Bresnock (Achillees), cautiously tested their recoveries in this race. Mullins finished in 225 place in 33:41, and Bresnock finished in 227 place in 33:47. Jake Garman followed on in 230 place in 34:46. Tyler Morris did not run; the absence of such a strong runner cost about 60 points and two or three places in the finish order.
