
At the Maryville College Invitational 8K race the UVa at Wise men finished in 2nd place (behind Tusculum College) out of 10 teams (8 scoring). Uva Wise placed 3 top 10 finishers, with 4 runners achieving personal best times. The UVa at Wise men ran on a beautiful yet challenging course in ideal running weather - cool and cloudy - while accomplishing this positive result.
Our 3 top 10 finishers were led by Matt Parker who finished in a very strong 4th place overall while running a personal best time of 29:19. He was followed closely by Tyler Morris who shaved nearly a minute off his previous best time to finish in 29:35 for a good 6th place finish. Freshman Sean Johnson continued his rapid development as a college athlete by finishing in 10th place in a personal best time of 30:25.
Another freshman, Josh Willcuts, showed increased ability in adapting to the distance by running a personal best time of 31:27, placing him in 16th place. Landry Mullins and Christian Bresnock both continue to work their way out of injuries, and ran together to finish 31st and 32nd in 33:45 and 33:52 respectively. Freshman Jake Garman completed the team order in 34th place at 34:45.
