Wise, Virginia - For every home game during the 2012 football season, UVa-Wise will honor a member of the campus community as an honorary captain.  This week, the honorary captain is Director of Library Services Robin Benke.

Mr. Benke graduated from Hampden-Sydney College.  He earned his M.L.S. degree from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in 1978

Mr. Benke began his career at The University of Virginia's College at Wise in 1978.  He is currently Director of Library Services and Assistant Professor of Library Science, positions he has held since 1988. 

He has served on numerous national and state committees including:

            Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

            President of Virginia Library Association, 2008-2009.

          Chairman of the Library Advisory Council (LAC) of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, 2003-2005.

          Current President of Pro-Art Association.

Among honors bestowed on Mr. Benke include service awards from UVa-Wise and several listings in Who's Who.
