Wise, Virginia - The Red Team jumped out to a one game to zero advantage by taking the opening game of the series 6-5 at Stallard Field on Tuesday. Both teams accounted for three runs in the first two innings and remained tied until the 5th inning when freshman catcher Bryan Andrews (Midlothian, VA) drove in a run for the Black Team to put them ahead 4-3. The Black Team tacked on another run in the top of the 7th when junior Tyler Hutson (Kingsport, TN) drove in a run with a double. In the bottom of the 7th sophomore Steven Allen (New Kent, VA) led off with a triple to right field for the Red Team. With two outs sophomore Matt Murphy (South Riding, VA) singled and junior Kirby Bush (Richmond, VA) was hit by a pitch. Freshman Adam Stanley (Rustburg, VA) tied the game with an infield single. Freshman Steven Klaiber (Salem, VA) drove in the game winning run with a bunt single. Freshman Adam Snyder (Virginia Beach, VA) suffered the loss for the Black Team allowing one earned run on two infield singles. Freshman Cody Jewell (Manassas, VA) picked up the win for the Red Team.  

On Wednesday, the Black Team struck back tying the series at one game apiece with a 3-2 victory. Trailing 2-1 in the fifth inning, senior Chaz Hall (Seaford, VA) drove in two runs on a single, to put the Black Team ahead. The Black team got strong pitching performances from junior starter Josh Massie (Amherst, VA), freshman Devon Moring (Portsmouth, VA), sophomore RW Payne (Spotsylvania, VA), and junior Danny Bates (Chantilly, VA). Devon Moring was credited with the win after throwing one and 2/3 scoreless innings. Danny Bates gave up no runs on no hits to earn the save. Senior Ryan Ward (Moneta, VA) suffered the loss for the Red Team after allowing two unearned runs in the fifth. 

The series has been shortened to three games with the final game set for Sunday October 21st. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 PM. Sophomore Travis Weaver will start for the Red Team against Sophomore Ben Coffman (Arlington, VA) for the Black Team.
