Louisville, Kentucky - Officials at the Mid-South Conference announced the league's preseason men's basketball coaches' poll on Friday.   Perennial national powers Georgetown College and University of Pikeville led the poll with Georgetown securing five first place votes while UPike received four first place votes to rank first and second in the poll.

Entering its final season in the Mid-South Conference Head Coach Lee Clark's Cavaliers were selected 10 out of the 11 schools in the league.  Clark enters the season just two wins shy of 200 for his career with his team returning senior forward Jermaine Wright and point guard Darius Smith as starters from the 2011-2012 squad.  A year ago, UVa-Wise posted a 9-16 overall record and a 6-9 mark in Mid-South action.  Last season, the Cavs forced nationally ranked Georgetown to overtime in the Mid-South Tournament before falling 79-71 to the Tigers.

UVa-Wise will open the season on November 2 when the team plays host to Virginia Intermont in the 2012 Cavalier Classic.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center.  The complete Mid-South Conference poll is listed below.
