Louisville, Kentucky -  The UVa-Wise women's basketball team was picked 10th out of 11 teams in the preseason Mid-South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.   Shawnee State was the top choice of league coaches as the Bears secured eight first places votes en route to the preseason selection.

The Cavaliers are under the direction of second year Head Coach Kristin Kunzman.  Kunzman and her staff return All Mid-South honoree Chelsea Cluesman while Hannah Powers returns for her senior season after missing last season due to injury.

A year ago, UVa-Wise posted a 9-21 overall record while going 3-13 in league action.  This season, UVa-Wise will open the season on November 3 when the team travels to Bethel.  The Cavs open up at home on November 29 when the University of Rio Grande visits Wise to kickoff Mid-South play.
