
McKenzie, Tenn. - Chelsea Cluesman's three point attempt at the buzzer was no good as number 22 Bethel University posted a 64-62 victory over UVa-Wise in non-conference action on Saturday.
Despite the three point miss, Cluesman had the strongest individual performance on the day. The senior made ten of 19 shots on the day to score 23 points, she also grabbed ten rebounds. Bethel's Jasmine Taylor led the Wildcats with 17 points on six of 11 shooting; Alisha Gentry, 14 points, Jackilann Street, 10 points also finished in double figure scoring in the win.
The Wildcats forced 18 Cavalier turnovers while shooting ten more free throws than the visitors. UVa-Wise outrebounded Bethel 36-32, the Cavs also hit six of 18 three point attempts to outscore their opponents by 12 from beyond the arc.
UVa-Wise drops to 0-1 with the loss; the win improves Bethel to 2-0 on the year. The Cavs will return to action on Friday when they travel to face #9 Lee University. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
