
The UVa Wise women's cross country finished the season at the Mid-South conference championship race hosted this year by the University of Rio Grande. Eleven Mid-South schools competed for post-season honors. Shawnee State took top honors, followed by Cumberlands. UVa Wise finished 7th of 11 teams, one place out of the exact middle.
The team was led by Emily Brock who clocked a steady pace throughout to finish 35th in 22:36. Whitney Carico ran her best race of her freshman year to finish 42nd in 23:41. Megan Hilliard and Samantha Balthis both struggled so they ran together to help one another through the race. Hilliard finished 45th in 24:12 and Balthis 46th in 24:27. Madison Compton rounded out the scoring with a solid 49th place finish in 24:55. Candace Discepolo did not run due to laryngitis.
