
Louisville, Ky. - The UVa-Wise softball team was selected eighth in the preseason Mid-South Coaches' Poll released by the conference on Monday. Three-time defending Mid-South Conference champion Lindsey Wilson College was the odds on favorite by the coaches while Campbellsville University received two first place votes to rank second in the poll.
A year ago, the Cavaliers finished 23-32 overall and 6-16 in league play. UVa-Wise advanced to the third round of the double-elimination conference tournament by knocking off Georgetown 7-5 in the first round.
Head Coach Karen Bitter's club will begin the 2013 season at home on February 13 when NCAA Division II member University of Charleston visits Cavalier Field. You can view the entire preseason poll below:
