
Sioux City, Iowa - Two UVa-Wise volleyball players were named NAIA Academic All-Americans on Friday. Robyn Doughtery earned her second Academic All-American honor while Lindsey Burke claimed her first honor. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.5 grade point average while maintaining good standing with their academic institution. In addition, the player must be a contributor to their athletic team.
Doughtery, a senior from Nicklesville, Va. finished the season with 170 kills, 39 digs, and 12 aces in winning her second Academic All-American award. Burke, a junior from Nicklesville, Va. finished her the season with a team-high 277 digs and 28 aces.
As a team, UVa-Wise finished the season 7-25 overall and 4-10 in league play in the school's final season in the Mid-South Conference.
