
Wise, Va. - #7 Cumberland University outscored UVa-Wise 30-14 in the first half and held on late to post a 62-52 victory at the Prior Center on Thursday. The Bulldogs placed three players in double-figure scoring and limited the Cavaliers to its poorest shooting half of the year to claim the Mid-South win.
Chelsea Cluseman scored a game-high 22 points for UVa-Wise while Charlotte Reasor, 13 points, and Reynesha Archer, 10 points also scored in double digits. As a team, the Cavs shot just 33.3 percent from the game while hitting just three of 20 shots from beyond the arc.
In the win, Yalonda Davis scored 16 points while Cassie Cowan added 15 points off the bench. The Bulldogs salted the game away late by hitting 19 of 24 free throw attempts (79.2 percent).
UVa-Wise falls to 5-11 overall and 2-5 in Mid-South play. The Cavs will return to play on Saturday when Cumberlands (Ky.) visits the Prior Center for a 2:00 p.m. tip. The game can be heard on www.uvawisecavs.com
