Milligan, Tenn. -  UVa-Wise extended its season opening winning streak to three games with a double-header sweep at Milligan College on Thursday.  Head Coach Karen Bitter's Cavaliers (3-0) scored five runs in the seventh inning of game one to post a 7-1 victory before shutting out the Buffaloes (0-4)11-0 in the finale.

Rachel Hawks improved her record to 2-0 in the opener by allowing seven hits and one run in a complete game victory.  The right hander struck out four and did not allow a walk in the win.  At the plate, Rachel Fischer went 2-2 with two RBI while Megan Dillion went 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.  In total, seven Cavs cracked the hit column against the Buffaloes.

Game two saw Kellie Waycaster earn her first collegiate win as she pitched five innings of shutout ball in the run-rule shortened game.  Waycaster struck out three while allowing two hits in her inaugural win.  Offensively,   UVa-Wise collected 10 hits as Kristina Romualdo went 2-2 with two runs scored.  Charity Lawson also produced two hits in a game that saw eight Cavs collect hits. 

On the day, UVa-Wise hitters lined 19 hits and scored 18 runs.  In the circle, Cavalier pitches fanned seven hitters, surrendered nine hits, and a single run in 12 innings of work.

UVa-Wise will return to play on February 23 when the team opens Mid-South play at the University of Pikeville.  The double-header is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
