Rio Grande, OH – The Cavaliers(11-13, 7-12 Mid-South) in a win and you are in situation to make the Conference tournament were unable to pull it together at the end of the game and dropped a close decision to Rio Grande(10-19, 5-14), 78-70. The RedStorm relinquished a five point lead early in the game and allowed the Cavaliers to tie it up at 40-40 going in to half-time.  In the second half, the RedStorm were poised and ultimately won the see-saw battle between the two teams going 7-10 from the free-throw line.
 
Rio Grande was led by Senior Kaleb Kimber with 19 points and Jermaine Warmack who added 17. The latter of the two had a monsterous dunk in the game off of a half court pass that seemed to set the tone for this game. As a team the RedStorm shot 40 percent from the field but limited themselves to only four turnovers. As a team, the host out rebounded the Cavaliers 38-34 for the game.
 
The Cavaliers suffering from injuries had a team effort with five players scoring in double digits for the game. Matt Day had 17 points , Darius Smith scored 13, Tyler Maggard and Jermaine Wright each added 12, and Deon Boyce finished with 11 points. The story of the game was the fact that UVa-Wise got into foul trouble early on limiting Boyce to only 20 minutes of play and James Turner to 18 minutes. The Cavaliers were called for 26 fouls in the game as the RedStorm were only called for 15 as a team.
 
UVa-Wise will return to action on Monday when the team plays The University of Pikeville.  Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. and the action can be heard on www.uvawisecavs.com or on WNVA AM 1350.
