Rio Grande, OH – The trip to Ohio for UVa-Wise Cavaliers women's basketball (7-21, 4-15 Mid-South) was not one to remember, as the club dropped its second game of the trip to the University of Rio Grande RedStorm (7-22, 1-18). The RedStorm only allowed the Cavaliers nine points in the first 12 minutes of play at the Newt Oliver Arena. Those nine points were all three-pointers made by freshman MaKenzie Cluesman who finished with 14 points in the 78-70 loss.
 
The Red Storm started off strong and never slowed down. Led by Shardai Morrison-Fountain (24 points) Rio Grande had as much as a 20 point lead late in the second half. Alongside Morrison-Fountain, Tinesha Taylor also scored in double digits with 10 points and added seven rebounds. As a team the RedStorm our rebounded the Cavaliers 46-42 and shot 38.6 percent from the field.
 
UVa-Wise had three players in double digits  alongside MaKenzie Cluesman was her sister Chelsea Cluesman who led the Cavs with 17 points and Charlotte Reasor added 12. Despite forcing 19 turnovers the Cavaliers were unable to take the lead at any point in the game. UVa-Wise has dropped nine of itslast 10 games.
 
UVa-Wise will return to action on Monday when the team plays The University of Pikeville.  Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. and the action can be heard on www.uvawisecavs.com or on WNVA AM 1350.
