AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The inaugural golf tournament of the 2013 spring season was shortened to just one day due to high winds, rain, and tornado warnings. Head Coach Jim Kelly's Cavaliers finished fifth in the field after shooting a 327 at the Slammer and Squire Course.
Thomas University won the event with a 303 total as Sam Jackson of Thomas University shot a 72 to take home the individual honors. Two UVa-Wise golfers finished in a tie for 10th place as David Harvey and Tyler Robinette each shot an 81 to lead the Cavs. Senior Matt Dotson shot an 82 to finish in 16th place and Clint Lowe fired an 83 to finish in 21st place to round out the Cavalier scoring.
UVa-Wise will return to the course in mid March when the team travels to McDermott, Ohio for the Shawnee State Men's Golf Tournament at Elks Country Club. The two-day event kicks off on March 15.
