Box Score Game Two

WISE, Va. -  UVa-Wise pitching limited visiting Bluefield College to three runs on five hits and the host pounded out 22 hits en route to 14 runs as Head Coach Karen Bitter's club posted a doubleheader sweep at Cavalier Field on Wednesday.  The Cavaliers scored a 3-1 victory in the opener before run-ruling the Rams 11-2 in five innings in game two.

Kristina Romualdo followed up her player of the week performance by going 4-4 in the doubleheader with a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored to pace the UVa-Wise (13-8, 6-2 Mid-South) offense.

In the circle, Rachel Hawks improved her record to 7-5 with a complete-game, three hit, performance in game one of the doubleheader.  Hawks struck out four, walked one, and allowed one run in claiming the win.  Fellow pitcher Kellie Waycaster was equally impressive in the finale as she surrendered just two hits and struck out six in improving her record to 5-2.

In addition to Romualdo, Mindy Combs, Rachel Fisher, and Charity Lawson all added three hits in the doubleheader sweep.  The trio combined to produce seven RBIs while scoring four runs.

Bluefield College (5-15, 1-7 Mid-South) received an RBI hit from Ciera Conkle in game one and solo home runs from Aline Uehara and Heather Thomas in game two to account for its three runs on the day.

With the wins, the Cavs have now won three of its last four games.  The team will be back in action on Saturday as UVa-Wise visits Campbellsville University for a pivotal Mid-South doubleheader.  First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.  You can hear both games of the doubleheader live on www.uvawisecavs.com
