Bristol, Tenn. - After a big UVa-Wise first half comeback and back-and-forth second 20 minutes, Virginia Intermont started overtime fast and held on for the overtime victory, 91-84, in the men's basketball Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament first round.

Freshman Josh Jordan had his best game of his first year for the Highland Cavaliers (8-21). He made nine of 17 attempts for 20 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked two shots. Pance Kecev pumped in a team-high 25 points with five three pointers on seven tries. Bryan Sexton added 15 tallies and clutched 10 caroms. Adam Hood had 12 points and seven boards.

Courtney White and Akeem Price was a two man show for the Cobras (7-24). White netted 37 points while Price added 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Va. Intermont started the game fast by going out to a 22-9 advantage in the first nine minutes. UVa-Wise chipped away at the difference the rest of the half until a Sexton three-pointer as time expired to make it 38-36.

The Cavs tied the game for the first time since the contest was 2-2 at 51-51 on a Kecev triple with 13:03 left in the game. Less than three minutes later, Kecev hit another long-range attempt for the first lead, 56-54.

UVa-Wise extended the new found lead, 65-60, on a Robert Amis put back. Neither team led by more than two points over the last 4:45 after Va. Intermont tied the affair, 66-66, until Kecev's desperation shot as time expired hit off the rim for a 73-73 tally at the end of regulation.

White made the opening basket of the extra period, stole a ball and made two more baskets to quickly put the Cobras ahead 79-73. The Cavs would never be able to tie the game again the rest of the extra five minutes and fell short, 91-84.
