Rome, Ga. - In the second outing of the spring season, the UVa-Wise golfers competed at the Rome Invitational. Rhyne Hammitt recorded two of the team's best three rounds of golf to lead the Highland Cavalier effort.

Host Berry College took away one stroke two day victory over LaGrange College, 587-588, by posting a five stroke better last afternoon. Shorter College was right behind the top two squads with a 592 while Lindenwood (Mo.) University was fourth (596). UVa-Wise placed 21st in the field with a 671 team tally.

Hammitt had rounds of 79 and 82 in the par 72 course for a team best 161 to tie for 83rd. Shane Dillon and Evan Sturgill posted scores of 166 and 167. Austin Brown (177) and Matt Faircloth (184) completed the Cavs contingent.
