Pineville, KY -The Highland Cavalier Golf team wrapped up the 2009 season at the AAC Championships held in Pineville, KY.  For the season UVa-Wise finished 6th in the league, the standings were compiled by adding the fall and spring scores.  Union College claimed the AAC Title by a score of 1214, King College was second with a score of 1224.  UVa-Wise finished with a score of 1300 good enough for the 6th place finish.

Evan Sturgill was the top performer for the Cavs' in the AAC Championship.  Sturgill shot a 163 in the two day event, good enough for 23rd overall.  One stroke behind Sturgill was Rhyne Hammitt who placed 26th in the field.  Other UVa-Wise golfers were Shayne Dillon 165, Austin Brown 179, and Matt Faircloth 194. As a team the Cavs' shot 665 placing them 8th in the field.

UVa-Wise does not lose a single member of this years team as they go  nto the 09-10 campaign.  The team will look to learn from the youthful mistakes of this season to improve as a team next year.
