Kingsport, Tenn. -- Trailing 3-0, Bluefield College exploded for six runs in the fifth inning in what would be the game-deciding outburst against UVa-Wise on Tuesday. Dusty Haigler doubled and singled while Brad Ricker laced a two-run double. Brad Austin had a run-scoring single. Luis Roa, Brad Robbins and Alan Stoupa had the final singles.
In the bottom of the second, Duffy and Narvaez led off with singles. Stoupa sacrifice bunted them to second and third before Ricker lined a double down the left field line to make it 2-0. UVa-Wise added a tally to its margin in the home fourth. Narvaez singled and was drove home three batters later on a hit to center field by Austin for a 3-0 advantage.
The Rams (31-13) put together the game-deciding turn at the plate. After three-straight singles to score their first run, the next two Bluefield batters walked to make it 3-2. Following the second UVa-Wise pitching change, K.J. Sobolewski doubled to deep center for two runs to take the lead, 4-3. Before recording the third out, the Rams added two more runs for a 6-3 score.
