Decatur, Ala. -- For the second day, UVa-Wise proved it is not far from defeating a NAIA top 10 ranked team.  After not taking advantage of three at bat with two runners on base, UVa-Wise saw ninth-ranked Martin Methodist record three-straight hits in the bottom of the sixth for the game's lone run in the 1-0 contest.

The Lady Cavs (31-17) had five players have one single apiece in Maddi Ridenour, Britney Lawson, Mary Wilson, Hannah Ellis and Tina Vaughan.  Megan McCoy had a quality outing on the mound.  The sophomore pitcher logged all six innings where she allowed five hits, one earned run, three walks and fanned five.

UVa-Wise was able to get two runners in the third but could not get on the board.  Two at bats later, the Lady Cavs had two runner on base when Ellis and Vaughan singled with one out but saw the next two hitters be retired.  The third time in four trips to the plate UVa-Wise had a pair of runners.  Lawson walked and Wilson singled but saw the same result.

Martin Methodist (42-11) strung together two singles before Brooke Kelley doubled to score the lone run with one out.  McCoy struck out the two hitters to retire the side.  Redhawk pitcher Sally Gale retired the Lady Cavs in the top of the seventh for the 1-0 win.

UVa-Wise will wrap up its third trip to the NAIA National Championship with a 3:00 p.m. affair against the College of Idaho.
