
Wise, Va. - After excelling scholastically on the hardcourt, J.J. Kelly High's Jaydee Brewer is bound for the UVa-Wise women's basketball team just up the road in the fall.
The Lady Cavs will welcome the future guard to their backcourt for the 2009-10 season. UVa-Wise will have an exciting up and coming team to put onto the floor in the coming season.
The 5-9 Brewer was a key contributor for the J.J. Kelly Lady Indians which won the last three-straight Lonesome Pine District girl's basketball titles. The team was the 2007 Region D runner-up and the 2009 Region D Semifinalist.
The future
Lady Cav was a four-time Academic All-LPD and a two-time All-LPD first team
pick. She earned All-Region D as a
junior while taking part in the FCA Southwest Virginia All-Star game this
spring. The backcourt player was selected as the MVP of the Virginia/Kentucky Border War All-Star game where she netted 20 points. Jaydee added West team MVP at the FCA East/West All-Star contest where she pumped in 17 points to go with 10 assists and 11 steals.
Brewer netted 910 points, grabbed 319 boards, swiped 195 steals and handed out 195 assists. She added 51 three-pointers and blocked 74 shots.
Brewer was also an All-District athlete for the Lady Indians in both softball and track & field.
Jaydee is the daughter of Lynn Brewer and plans to pursue a degree in biology at UVa-Wise.
