Warsaw, Va. - Rappahannock County's Dean Hogan is set to bring his talented leg to kick for the UVa-Wise football team this fall. The Panther punter/placekicker will battle for the kicking duties with the Highland Cavaliers.

The Cavs wrapped up their third-straight season with at least eight wins, are 25-8 over that time and finished rated in the NAIA Top 25 in each season.

A four-year letterman for Rappahannock County, Hogan averaged 40.1 yards per punt over his career. He attended the Ray Guy/Prokicker.com Kicking Academy where he earned the 48th spot on the national rankings list for punters.

Besides serving as Rappahannock County's punter, Hogan also handled the placekicking duties and started at wide receiver and safety. During his four-year varsity career, he caught 86 passes for 1,297 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He plans to challenge for the main punting duties upon his arrival at UVa-Wise. The Cavs punter the past two seasons graduated leaving the spot wide open for new challenges for the 2009 campaign.

Hogan selected UVa-Wise over NCAA Division II offers from Clarion (Pa.), West Liberty (W.Va.) and I-AA VMI.

Dean plans to major in pre-physical therapy/athletic training upon reaching the Wise campus.
