Brevard, NC- The Highland Cavalier Golf Team kicked off the 2009 season in Brevard, North Carolina this week. The tournament marked the first time new head coach Jim Kelly directed the squad. 

The team was led by Evan Sturgill (Pound, VA), Sturgill posted a two day score of 163 good enough to place him 44^th overall. David Jones (Ameila, VA) and Justin Stanley (Haysi, VA) each shot a 166 placing them in a tie for 48^th. Two other Highland Cavs' tied for the tournament as well, Blake Roberts (Wise, VA) and Sean Hensley (Gate City, VA)each shot 174 to put them in 53^rd in the field. As a team UVa-Wise shot a 667 placing them 10^th in the field.

The team will return to the course on September, 24^th for the Clear Creek Tournament.
