Roanoke, VA- The Highland Cavaliers women's cross country team competed at the Maroon Invitational over the weekend. Mary Katherine Phipps had another strong showing finishing in the top 20.

Phipps (Abingdon, VA) finished 16^th overall with a time of 26:58.38. Kayla Balthis (Pound, VA) had a strong showing as well, her time of 28:47.47 was good enough for 27^th overall. Freshman Leslie Ann Hitt (Danville, VA) continued to be successful at the collegiate ranks, she finished 31^st with a time of 29:27.27. The two remaining UVa-Wise runners finished grouped together, Tamara Haack (Stephens City, VA) and Danielle Sparkman (Richmond, VA) finished 52^nd and 53^rd respectively. 

As a team UVa-Wise finished 7^th in the invitational and will compete again at the Cavalier Invitational on October 10^th.
