Montreat, N.C. - After falling in three-straight contests at home to open the season, UVa-Wise took Montreat to the limit on Saturday afternoon. The Highland Cavaliers took two of the first three games before the home team grabbed the fourth contest and edged out a 15-11 deciding contest for the 3-2 win.

The Cavs took the first game 25-22 before the host had a close 25-23 victory. UVa-Wise (5-13/2-7 Appalachian Athletic Conference) grabbed the third game, 25-14, before Montreat (15-8/8-2 AAC) tied the match, 25-22, and took the fifth affair, 15-11.

On the day, Mikaela Anders pounded 16 kills, blocked seven total attempts, dug three balls and had an ace. Ruth Hoover dug 17 attacks and had a service ace. Kelley Bumgarner handed out 38 assist, added five kills, six digs and an ace. Megan Funk chipped in 13 kills and five blocks. Kayla Dougherty produced six kills and Courtney Coe six digs.

UVa-Wise will next travel to Reinhardt College on Oct. 8th for a 7:00 p.m. bout.
