Wise, VA-  Mary Katherine Phipps (Abingdon, VA) continued her strong season by taking the Cavalier Invitational.  Phipps posted a time of 21:39 finishing 14 seconds ahead of second place finisher Robin Smith of Tusculum. 

Two more Highland Cavalier runners finished in the top 4.  Kayla Balthis (Pound, VA) finished 3rd with a time of 22:4.  Her teammate Leslie Hitt (Danville, VA) took fourth with a time of 22:54.  Tamara Haack (Stephens City, VA) also had a strong day finishing 7th.  Haack ran 26:53 in the 5,000 meter event.

The cross country team will be back in action on October 24th for the Louisville SF Classic.  The meet will be the teams final tune up before the AAC Championships.
