
Pikeville, Ky. - For the first time this fall, UVa-Wise completed a women's volleyball season sweep of an opponent after taking Pikeville College on the road, 3-0.
The Highland Cavaliers (8-15) took care of the Bears (4-16) with games scores of 25-22, 29-27 and 25-21. The visitors took care of both matches against Pikeville by identical 3-0 finishes.
Middle hitter Mikaela Anders continued her solid play with 19 kills, 12 digs, an ace and one block assist. Kelley Bumgarner dished out 40 assists to go with six kills and seven digs.
Autumn Chisenhall chipped in eight kills, three aces, two digs and a block. Kayla Dougherty downed seven kills, a pair of digs and an ace of her own. Senior Ruth Hoover led the defense with 19 digs and Courtney Coe added seven digs. Sam Brummette and Brittany Craft rounded out the Cavs defense with six and two digs.
UVa-Wise will return home for a Tuesday night Appalachian Athletic Conference match against Milligan College starting at 6:30 p.m.
