Bristol, Va. - After winning four of its last five matches, the UVa-Wise women's volleyball team was upset on the road by Virginia Intermont. The Lady Cobras split the first two games with the Highland Cavaliers before edging the third contest and prevailing in the fourth for the 3-1 victory.

The home team took the first bout, 25-23, before the Cavs (9-17/4-11 Appalachian Athletic Conference) ran away with a 25-15 win. Virginia Intermont (6-24/3-14 AAC) turned around to take the next two games, 26-24 and 25-21.

Mikaela Anders was the lone double figure kill player for UVa-Wise with 15 to go with 10 digs and an ace. Kelley Bumgarner assisted on 32 kills, had six kills of her own and dug eight balls. Autumn Chisenhall added six kills, three digs, an ace and one block. Ruth Hoover produced 18 digs.

UVa-Wise will have a Halloween double home match day with a 1:00 p.m. match against Bryan College and a 5:30 p.m. affair against Covenant College.
