Boxscore Wise, Va. - With
the scoreboard showing 50-45, UVa-Wise went on a 24-2 run over nine minutes to
lead to a big second and eventual romp over Bluefield College, 97-66, Monday
evening in men's hoops.
The Highland
Cavaliers (9-10/6-4 AAC) netted 11-straight points and ran off 13 more points
in a row to take a five-point game, 50-45, to a 74-47 score with 8:40
remaining. The going away victory was
the first for UVa-Wise over Bluefield in over five years.
On the night
he was honored before the game for becoming the 29th player to reach
1,000 career points, Pance Kecev dropped a season-high 25 points on eight off
11 tries including six of nine from long-range to lead all scorers. Travis Berry added 13 points while Adam Hood
and Patrick Fisher chipped in 10 tallies apiece.
Every
UVa-Wise player found the scoring column including Mark Phillips, Norris
Gaskins and Kevin Perry netting nine points each. The home team made 31 of 50 tries for 62.0%
from the field and 10 of 19 (52.6%) from long-range.
Bluefield
(10-12/6-5 AAC) was paced by Omar Reed's 20 points and nine rebounds.
UVa-Wise
will play at Montreat College on Wednesday night starting at 7:30 p.m.
