Dry Fork, Va. -- Another softball talent, Tunstall High School's Megan Dillion, has signed to play collegiately for the highly-successful UVa-Wise Highland Cavaliers.
Dillion will join a UVa-Wise team which has won at least 29 games in each of those seasons including a 31-18 mark in 2009 to go with three trips to the NAIA National Championship over the last five seasons. The Cavs have also captured five Appalachian Athletic Conference crowns in the last six seasons including the 2009 title.
The future Cav will add a quality utility player to next year's roster. Megan has played a different position in second base, first base and catcher over her last three years playing for the Trojans.
"She is a versatile athlete who will add depth to our roster," said Cavs' head coach Tori Raby-Gentry. "Megan is the definition of a ‘team player.'
After returning to the lineup midway through last season after recovering from a torn ACL, Dillion batted .265. In the playoffs, Megan saw her average rise to .375 including three hits in the state title game loss to Broad Run. She has been part of the Tunstall High teams which have made it to the state title game two of the past three seasons."
"Megan is used to being a part of a successful program and will bring that same drive to UVA-Wise," added coach Raby-Gentry. "Megan is just as solid in the classroom as she is on the field."
