Castlewood, VA - Derek Allen has signed a letter of intent to play collegiate golf at the University of Virginia's College at Wise. Allen is a four year letter winner and has competed in the VHSL state golf tournament. 

Allen has saved his best performances for the biggest stages. In 2009 he shot a 77 on day two of the state golf tournament, earlier in the year he posted a 78 at the Famers and Miners Tournament. Allen becomes the third recruit head coach Jim Kelly has signed this season and he will be counted on to be a scoring golfer early in his career.

UVa-Wise begins their spring golf season on March 2^nd at Reinhardt.
