Wise, Va. - After two weeks of struggling, the Highland Cavaliers put together a solid Monday performance. Meghan Rutherford's 17 points paced a balanced scoring attack for UVa-Wise as it raced past Reinhardt College, 87-66.

Leading 16-12, the Cavs (14-11/9-6 Appalachian Athletic Conference) received a three-pointer from Amber Carter, outside shot by Rutherford and a driving layup by Carter to take the difference to double figures, 23-12. The Lady Eagles (12-16/6-8 AAC) would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way and fell behind by as many as 33 points before the 87-66 final.

Rutherford made five of nine attempts and all six of her free throws for 17 points to go with six rebounds. Carter added 16 points and four assists. Brittney Maxwell drained four of six long-range tries for 12 tallies while Adrienne Womack contributed 12 points and six boards off the bench. Kristin Mullins posted 10 points and 11 caroms for her ninth double-double of the year.

Fabiola Toussaint hit three triples as part of her team-high 11-point effort to lead Reinhardt. Jaybriel Guyton added 10 points.

Last Wednesday night, UVa-Wise fell at Reinhardt by an 87-64 tally only turn have a 44-point turnaround in its home gym five days later. The Cavs won both the rebound, 49-41, and turnover, 18 to 21, categories as well as shooting over 51.9% (14 of 27) in the second half.
