Virginia Beach, Va. - The pipeline of softball talent from Tallwood High School and Virginia    to the campus of The University of Virginia's College at Wise continues. All-state corner infielder Kristina Romualdo is the latest signee for the 2010 Highland Cavalier softball class.

Romualdo will join a UVa-Wise team which has won at least 29 games in each of those seasons including a 31-18 mark in 2009 to go with three trips to the NAIA National Championship over the last five seasons. The Cavs have also captured five Appalachian Athletic Conference crowns in the last six seasons including the 2009 title.

"Kristina will be a strong addition to the team. She has the ability to make an immediate impact in our lineup," said UVa-Wise head coach Tori Raby-Gentry. "She has a good glove and does a great job at first base. Kristina was a clutch hitter for Tallwood last year as they advanced to the Eastern Region Final for the first time in school history."

Romualdo will join current Tallwood High alums in senior Christine Cantone and freshman Kayla Cash. She also played on the Virginia Lady Eagles with freshman Ashleigh Roenker.

On the field, the future Cav earned Group AAA All-State first team last year and was named the Eastern Region Player of the Year. She added All-Eastern Region first team, All-Tidewater District first and District Player of the Year acclaim.

The first and third baseman hit .403 with three doubles, a triple and one home run. She drove in 20 runs with a .613 slugging percentage and an impressive .992 fielding percentage for a corner infielder.

As a sophomore at Tallwood, the infielder picked up All-Tidewater District first team status. During that spring, Romualdo posted a .358 average, five double, a triple, three home runs with 12 runs batted in with a .595 slugging percentage and a .994 fielding percentage.
