Dayton, Tenn. - Midway through the first half, UVa-Wise ran off nine-straight points and would never trail again to complete a sweep of Bryan College, 74-69, in women's basketball on Saturday.

The Highland Cavaliers (15-12) continued after the run to take a 45-31 halftime advantage. The Lady Lions (16-13) was able to get back to within five points but could get no closer than the final margin.

The victory sealed the third seed for UVa-Wise in the upcoming Appalachian Athletic Conference playoffs. UVa-Wise will host #6 Montreat College in a 7:30 p.m. quarterfinal contest on Thur., Feb. 25th in Greear Gym.

Kristin Mullins led the Cavs with 18 points while Ayla Young was the other double figure scorer with 10 tallies. Meghan Rutherford and Brittany Maxwell chipped in nine points apiece. Emily Doane added eight points with Amber Carter having six points, five assists and four steals.

Anna Thomas had top honors for the Lady Lions with 16 points and 18 rebounds.
