Wise, Va. - After sweeping through the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament, UVa-Wise found out its opening round opponent at next week's NAIA National Championships. The third-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats has been slated to face UVa-Wise announced late this afternoon on CollegeFanz.com.

The Highland Cavaliers (17-12) will tangle with the third-rated Wildcats (28-5) next Thursday, March 11th in a 6:45 p.m. EST/5:45 p.m. CST affair. The NAIA National Championship Division II men's playoffs are hosted by the University of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri. The tournament will begin March 10th and run through the 16th.

Following a four-way tie for the AAC regular season championship, UVa-Wise rattled off three-straight victories to capture the first crown since 2003. The AAC foes to fall started with Tennessee Wesleyan, 99-88, in the quarterfinals, Bluefield College, 86-80, in the semis and then Kevin Perry's tip-in with eight tenths of a second left gave UVa-Wise the 86-85 league title at Union College on Monday night.

UVa-Wise will be led by the backcourt trio of Pance Kecev (16.0 ppg and 90 3FG), Travis Berry (13.0 ppg and 82 assists) and Adam Hood (10.5 ppg and 77 assists). The Cavs have claimed victories in 10 of its past 12 contests since January 27th.

Indiana Wesleyan of Marion, Ind. has produced victories in its last six games and nine of the last 10 games with the lone defeat in overtime. The Mid-Central College Conference regular season winner added the tournament title with a 78-68 win over Bethel (Ind.) College last night.

The Wildcats are paced by 6-9 senior forward Zach Coverston who averages nearly a double-double a contest at 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. Will Hubertz, a 6-6 junior, is second in scoring at 12.2 points with 56 triples.
