Dayton, TN -  The Highland Cavaliers will have to wait at least one more day before collecting their first win of the season.  UVa-Wise dropped two Appalachian Athletic Conference games against Bryan College on Friday.  The Lions took game one 8-4 while coming back in game two to secure a 5-4 victory.

In game one Bryan got an early lead by putting two runs on the board in the home half of the first inning.  Bryan would add a single run in the third before pushing the game out of reach by connecting for two runs in both the fourth and fifth inning.  Leading 7-0, the Lions would add another run in the sixth wrapping up their scoring on the day.

UVa-Wise would mount a comeback attempt in the top of the 7th,  Tommy Meir would strike for a two rbi double to cut the deficit to 8-2.  Pinch hitter Billy Thompson and second baseman Cody Bentley would follow Meir in producing rbi.  Thompson and Bentley each plated a run to cut the lead to 8-4.  That was as close as UVa-WIse would get as Bryan reliever Josh Smith would come on to record the last two outs of the ball game to secure the win.

Game two would see UVa-Wise jump out to an early advantage, the Cavaliers scored three runs in the top of the first.  Bryan college would answer in the second by putting two runs on the board to draw within one.  In a back and forth affair, UVa-Wise scored in third to put the lead back to two.  Again, Bryan would answer with two runs of their own to tie up the game.  From that point the game would remained tied until the home half of the seventh when Bryan would push across the game winning run.
