Cocoa Beach, FL - The Highland Cavaliers picked up their second victory of the day when they defeated Penn College 17-16 on Monday afternoon. Six UVa-Wise players had multi-hit games while Josh Guizar picked up his first career victory on the mound.

In a game that saw 33 runs, 33 hits, and 10 errors UVa-Wise scored in each of the last five innings to pick up the victory. The game got off to a wild start when UVa-Wise put four runs on the board in the first only to see Penn College respond with five runs of their own. Penn College extended the lead to six by scoring three in the third and two in the fourth. UVa-Wise fought back with two of their own in the top of the fifth only to see Penn College double that figure in the bottom half. 

The Uva-Wise rally got under way in the sixth when they connected for three runs, the following inning four Highland Cavaliers crossed the plate to cut the lead to one. Following two Penn College runs, UVa-Wise tied the game in the eighth before taking their first lead since the first inning in the ninth with a single run. Jonathon Hawkins came on to record his first save of 2010 with a scoreless home half of the ninth.

On the day the Highland Cavaliers were lead by Brad Robbins (Big Stone Gap, VA), Kirby Bush (Richmond, VA), Chaz Hall (Seaford, VA), and Brian King (Chantilly, VA). The quartet combined for 14-25 at the plate while driving in seven runs. Dusty Haigler (Hanover, PA) and Jonathon Cox (Martinsville, VA) also had multi-hit games, Haigler drove in four runs while Cox scored three runs.

UVa-Wise will play again tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. when they take on Penn State Greater Alleghany at the Cocoa Beach Expo Center.
