Lookout Mountain, GA - UVa-Wise and Covenant split an Appalachian Athletic Conference baseball double header on Tuesday. Covenant took game one 12-2 in five innings while UVa-Wise responded by winning game two 7-2.

In game one the Highland Cavaliers took a 2-0 lead over the Scots on a two run home run by Brad Robbins (Big Stone Gap, VA). Covenant responded with a solo home run by Jared Carlson in the bottom of the second. The Scots would take the lead for good in the third inning, Taylor Oldham connected for a three run home run to put Covenant on top 4-2. The Scots played on in the fourth and fifth innings by scoring five in the fourth and three in the fifth to post the 12-2 victory. Tyler Smith picked up the win for Covenant by throwing a complete game. Smith scattered six hits across five innings while walking one and striking out two. 

The second game of the day featured another complete game but this time it was a Highland Cavalier. Ryan Crosby (Warrenton, VA) pitched seven solid innings allowing just two runs on five hits while walking two, Crosby struck out five Scots in the win. Using a fast start UVa-Wise jumped out to a 5-1 lead over the first three innings. At the plate, Brad Robbins went three for four, scoring two runs. Luis Roa (Arecibo, P.R.) went two for three, driving in two runs, and scoring two runs. Freshman, Kirby Bush (Richmond, VA) also had a solid day at the plate; Bush drove in two runs while going two for four at the plate. 

The win improved the Highland Cavaliers' record to 6-7/1-3 on the season. UVa-Wise will return to AAC play on Friday when they travel to Barbourville, KY for a double header against nationally ranked Union College.
