
Milligan, TN - The Highland Cavalier's traveled to Milligan on Saturday to compete in their second Appalachian Athletic Conference match of the year. The Buffaloes defeated the Highland Cavaliers 8-1 in women's tennis action. The lone UVa-Wise win came from Annie Fritz; Fritz defeated Celeste Carpenter in three sets 2-6, 7-5, and 11-9.
The Buffaloes swept the remaining singles matches and took all three doubles matches in the victory. UVa-Wise nearly forced a third set tiebreak in fourth singles, Racheal Juhan was defeated by Halie Winfrey 6-1, 7-5. The Highland Cavaliers also had a strong showing in first doubles where Megan Buchanan and Kayli Bates fell 8-4 to Caitlin Conley and Vessie Rose Remegi.
The loss dropped UVa-Wise to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 inside the AAC.
