Wise, VA - UVa-Wise football players and cheerleaders hosted over one hundred second graders on Tuesday at Carl Smith Stadium. The second graders were from Wise Primary School and were being rewarded for good behavior and perfect attendance.
The annual event featured each child having his or her name called out on the public address system at the stadium, free ice cream, and most importantly fun for all. Throughout the event, children wrestled with football players, learned cheerleading routines, played with football equipment, along with meeting UVa-Wise coaches, players, and administrators. Many of the second graders took the opportunity to take home an autograph from their favorite Highland Cavalier as well.
In addition to kid's day at Carl Smith Stadium, this fall all K-12 students will be admitted free to all home UVa-Wise football and basketball games. The first home game of the season will be September 4th when UVa-Wise plays host to Campbell University.
