Wise, VA -  Milligan College out slugged UVa-Wise in Appalachian Athletic Conference baseball action on Friday.  The Buffaloes defeated the Highland Cavaliers 15-12 in a nine inning game that was originally to be played on Sunday.  The series' double header will now be played on Sunday in effort to avoid inclement weather on Saturday.

UVa-Wise picked up single runs in each of the game's first two innings to lead 2-0 going into the third.  Milligan would then score four in the third to take the lead; Ricky Morgan, Brett Maddox, and Matt Lyle all picked up rbi for the Buffaloes in the inning.

Milligan would score two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to lead 8-2 heading to the home half of the fifth.  UVa-Wise cut the lead in half as Brad Ricker tripled to lead off the inning; he scored one batter later on a Tommy Meier rbi single.  Meir scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Brad Robbins; the Cavaliers final run of the inning came when Brett Hylton singled in Dusty Haigler.

UVa-Wise cut the lead to just one in the sixth as they scored two more runs.  Luis Roa singled in Ricker to make it an 8-6 score, later in the inning Meier scored on a wild pitch to draw the Cavaliers to within one.  Milligan would extend its lead back out to four by scoring a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to lead 11-7.

The Buffaloes appeared to put the game out of reach in the top of the ninth when Dallas Crouch hit a grand slam pushing the lead to 15-7.  Trailing by eight, UVa-Wise cranked up the offense and mounted a valiant comeback attempt.  Hylton was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and moved to third on a double by Chaz Hall.  Ricker's fourth hit of the night plated Hytlon to cut the lead to 15-8; Hall would score one batter later when Meier reached on a Milligan error reducing the deficit to six.  Two hitters later, Robbins was hit by a pitch to load the bases; Roa followed that at bat up by being hit by a pitch as well to score another run.  Brian King then lined a base hit to score Meier to make it a four run ball game.  One batter later, Brett Hylton lined a base hit to make it a 15-12 score.  From there, Milligan closer Jason Trivett picked up his 12th save of the season when he struck out pinch hitter Alex Feemster to end the ball game.

UVa-Wise and Milligan will resume the series on Sunday when they hook up for a double header.  First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
