Kingsport, TN - UVa-Wise had four players honored by the Appalachian Athletic Conference on Wednesday. As a team, the Highland Cavaliers were honored as Co-Champions of Character. Center fielder Maddi Ridenour was named to the conference's first team. Pitcher Lauren Snead, right fielder Kaitilyn Bennett, and designated player Ashleigh Roenker were selected to the honorable mention squad.

This season Ridenour hit .458 in conference games while swiping 10 bags in 13 attempts. Meanwhile, senior Lauren Snead led the AAC in strikeouts while posting a 1.36 era; the right hander won nine games for UVa-Wise this season while saving two. Bennett is the current AAC player of the week; the Chesapeake, Virginia native hit .364 in conference games this season. On the year, Bennett hit two home runs while knocking in 14. Playing mostly as the team's designated player Roenker led the Cavaliers in rbi at 19; the freshman hit .276 in the regular season while starting every game played by UVa-Wise. 

The annual Champions of Character Award was split between UVa-Wise and Bluefield. The award is given to the school which best exemplifies good sportsmanship and strong character during athletic competition.
