Kingsport, TN - Bluefield College scored 11 runs over the first three innings of Saturday's first round Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament game to beat UVa-Wise 17-2.

The Rams produced 20 hits and capitalized on four Cavalier errors to put up 17 runs. On the day, Bluefield went 20 for 42 at the plate as a team. For UVa-Wise, the lone bright spot at the plate was Tommy Meier. Meir went two for three in the contest; the freshman also scored the only two runs of the game for the Highland Cavaliers. On the mound, reliever Josh Guizar came on in the seventh to strike out four Rams. The right hander struck out the first three batters he faced, the third reaching on a passed ball; Guizar then struck out a fourth batter in the frame to complete the rare feat.

UVa-Wise will return to action on Monday when they face Union College in an elimination game. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, TN.
