Wise, VA- While Georgetown College and Shawnee State University top the Mid-South Conference preseason volleyball poll released this week, the University of Virginia's College at Wise looks to make noise in its first season in the Mid-South Conference after being picked to finish 4th in the East Division.

 

Shawnee State, another first-year conference member, is picked to win the East Division. Reigning champions Georgetown College are projected to win the West Division.

 

Rounding out the Eastern Division in the poll, University of Rio Grande was selected 2nd with 13 points and 1 first place vote. Pikeville College accumulated 11 points and 1 first place vote to be slotted 3rd. UVa-Wise is projected 4th, while West Virginia Tech was picked 5th in the division.

 

The rest of the Western Division is as follows: Campbellsville College is projected 2nd behind Georgetown, with 13 points and 1 first place vote. Lindsay Williams College was ranked 3rd, receiving 10 points. The University of Cumberlands was slotted 4th with 7 points and St. Catharine College rounds out the division with 4 points.

 

The 2010 Mid-South Conference volleyball season begins later this month and concludes with the conference tournament Nov. 7-9 in Frankfort, Ky.
